Swansea City manager Garry Monk has signed a new three-year contract with the Liberty Stadium club. The former defender took over from Michael Laudrup Joe Dumars Jersey in February 2014 and guided his side to their highest Premier League finish last season. Monk, though, stre sed the importance of continued improvement after penning his new deal. Im extremely pleased to sign the new deal,Monk told Swanseas official website. Weve been talking for a while, mostly over the finer details, so Im glad its all finalised heading into a new and very important season for the club. Last season was fantastic and I learned a lot to take forward. But even with the succe s we all had, from the staff to the players, you can never afford to stand still. Its been a happy and productive 18 months so far for me as manager. I believe we have put good foundations in place, but now its vital we build on that and push forward. Swansea posted a record points total of 56 to finish eighth in the top flight last term. Monk, who joined Swansea as a player in 2004, had two years remaining on his existing deal. As a club we are pleased to agree the new contract with Garry,chairman Huw Jenkins added. Its deserved reward for the fantastic season weve just had and all Garrys hard work, commitment and loyalty to our football club over many years. We also feel it is vital to have stability within our football club, especially with Garry going into such a big season where the reward for remaining within the Barclays Premier League is going to be greater than ever in terms of finance and global exposure.
